ARTICOLO 26

Place: Pesaro, Italy

Dates of the project: 01 Sep 2022 - 01 Sep 2023

Topic: Articolo 26 is a project in support of the right to education, based on the values of the Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It addresses young and very young students from the province of Pesaro Urbino.

Description of the Project:

Articolo26 is a path designed for young and very young students. As the title itself suggests, it is based on Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, according to which education must be aimed at the full development of the human personality and fundamental freedoms.

EDUCATION, CLIMATE CHANGE, FUTURE

The heart of the initiative, now in its fourth edition, lies in the desire to investigate, through meetings inside and outside the classrooms, education in a threefold sense: as a way that makes it possible to trace itineraries and design, from childhood, their own path starting from the recognition of what one desires; education as a right of which it is necessary to have awareness and protection; and education as a tool for dialogue. At the same time, Articolo26 contains an extremely concrete implication: the possibility for every young person we meet to access firsthand the activities of growth and civic leadership promoted - or presented - by the partners.
In addition to the educational area, addressing the future of the younger generations, Articolo26 has progressively included a second fundamental axis: environmental sustainability.

AIMS

  • To stimulate youth leadership;
  • To encourage awareness and civic participation of boys and girls;
  • To strengthen the ability to create a system of the territory in order to multiply growth opportunities for young people.

NETWORK

Articolo26 is built on a network which relies on the valuable experience of each individual partner. It was only thanks to the richness of values of those who collaborated and their generous support that the initiative was able to see such an effective and stable realization over time.

THE STORY OF THE PROJECT

The first edition of the project was implemented in 2018/2019 in two secondary schools in Pesaro, involving 50 young people aged between 14 and 19. In the second edition, a school in Fano was also added, thus increasing the number of students involved. The pandemic did not manage to stop the project: in the year 2020/2021, the project was carried out totally online with an expansion of the beneficiaries and activities: not only students but also girls and boys. To date, the project has already involved more than 200 young people.

THE FOURTH EDITION

The 2021/2022 edition is in full swing: the workshops for high school students have started. The workshops cover different topics including the right to education, European opportunities, climate change and dreams to look to the future with more tools. Until the end of March, about 200 students from 3 different institutions will be involved in a series of 5 meetings. The Liceo Artistico F. Mengaroni of Pesaro, which hosts the meetings together with other High Schools also this year, has decided to include the Articolo 26 meetings in its educational offer, given the constant collaboration since 2018.

The project is also being implemented outside the classroom. Starting in spring, events will be created for the youngest children - also in the inland areas of the province - inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals board game "Go Goals!" (designed and produced by the United Nations Regional Information Centre). A Festivalino dell'Ambiente is also under construction, a two-day festival of short films and cartoons dedicated to environmental issues.
